Next Generation Real Estate Web Sites Coming Soon!
By HHI Golf Guy | June 5, 2007
Over the next few weeks we will begin the final phases of development and testing on our next generation of real estate web sites. Previously, our web sites used a combination of static pages combined with database access for items like featured real estate listings.
Code named RECAP (Real Estate Core Apllication), our next generation of web sites will be utilizing the Joomla! Content Management System for all items and information on the web site. Now you may be asking yourself, “Why use an open source CMS rather than design a proprietary product?”
The answer is quite simple. We do not want to hold our clients hostage to our own application when there are so many other great modules and functions that they may want to add to their web site. We will have proprietary custom applications within the site. But almost every week it seems like someone is adding a great new function or module that would benefit our clients. Why should we make them wait for a copycat development when there is already a module ready to plugin to their web site? That’s not fair to our customers.
Technology on the web is moving fast these days - even faster than in years past. Our goal is to provide customers with a platform that is easily upgradeable and expandable throughout the lifetime of the product.
Although the new core module will be the same for all sites (the old core module was also the same on our previous generation of sites) these are NOT template web sites. Each site will be formatted utilizing its own custom CSS stylesheet. Some of the features and functionality will be the same with every web site, but rest assured these will all be custom web sites.
One of the distinct advantages of moving to this CMS application is that agents will have an easy time adding content, listings, photos, and video to their web site - without having to know anything about coding, programming, or HTML.
Stay tuned for more information as we update you on the progress of this new product.
